JUDAS PRIEST - Guitarist Talks About Recent South American Tour
|
|
The Grand Rapids Press recently conducted a short interview with JUDAS PRIEST
guitarist K.K. Downing. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:
On the reunited band's recent tour of South America:
"It's quite an experience traveling this part of the world .
All the crowds that we've played to down here in South America and Mexico
so far have been very big crowds. I guess we're expecting close to 20,000
people tonight. We played to 25,000 in Buenos Aires. Heavy metal seems to
be very desirable down here."
On the band's Tim "Ripper" Owens years:
"We were playing much smaller venues, as you can imagine, without the original
lineup. Obviously, with PRIEST, we've got a heritage that goes back to the
early '70s, so for the fans that have traveled along with us, it's not really
the same when a key member leaves the band. When (Halford) rejoined, they
rejoiced, so now we're playing to much bigger audiences."
JUDAS PRIEST are scheduled to perform at the Assembly Hall in Champaign,
Illinois Tuesday night (Sept. 27).
