During his visit, the award-winning documentary filmmaker will participate
in master classes, screen a retrospective of his film and television projects,
read excerpts of his book "Metallica: This Monster Lives", and discuss his
first literary undertaking.
The following METALLICA-related events are free and open to the public.
They will be held in Golden Auditorium of Colgate's Little Hall:
* Oct. 26, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.: Reading from "Metallica: This Monster Lives"
* Oct. 28, 7 p.m.: Screening of "Metallica: Some Kind of Monster" followed
by reception
Berlinger's visit is being coordinated by the university's film and media
studies (FMST) program and ART MIX 05-06, a Colgate initiative funding special
projects in the arts.
Created in 2004, the FMST minor concentration enables students to engage
in a critical study of film and visual mass media. It also provides students
with a means of critically examining how film and visual mass media serve
as powerful determinants of ideology, identity, and historical consciousness.
